Metric High Collar Split Ring Lock Washers (also known as Hi-Collar Lock Washers, Heavy Duty Split Lock Washers, High Spring Lock Washers, or Tall Split Washers) are helical spring washers with a taller profile than standard split lock washers. The increased height delivers greater spring tension and deflection, providing enhanced resistance to loosening caused by vibration, thermal expansion, and dynamic loads. Like standard split lock washers, the high collar design features a single split in the ring that creates two sharp edges—as the fastener is tightened, these edges bite into both the fastener head and the mating surface, creating mechanical resistance to back-off. The taller collar also provides additional clearance between the bolt head or nut and the workpiece, which can be beneficial in assemblies with uneven surfaces, paint buildup, or recessed features.
