What are Tools for Fastener & Fabrication Work?

Browse job-ready hand tools, driver bits, sockets, drill bits, taps & dies, measuring tools, and storage bags for shop, field, and DIY use. You’ll find pro brands (including Norseman/Viking cutting tools) alongside everyday essentials that pair perfectly with the fasteners we sell.

Popular Tool Categories

  • Hand Tools: allen keys/hex keys, pliers, wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, saws & blades.
  • Sockets & Bits: nutsetters, bit holders, screwdriver bit sets, socket adapters/extensions.
  • Drill Bits & Cutting: jobber & mechanic-length bits, step bits, taps, dies, countersinks, deburring.
  • Gauges & Measuring: thread gauges, feeler gauges, calipers, rulers, levels, and angle/marking tools.
  • Power Tools: select drivers, cutters, and accessories that complement our fastener lines.
  • Tool Sets & Bags: prebuilt sets, field pouches, organizers, and heavy-duty totes.

How to Choose the Right Tool

  1. Match the fastener drive: Phillips/PH, Pozidriv/PZ, Slotted, Square/Robertson, Torx/T-size, Hex/Allen, Nut-driver sizes (SAE/metric).
  2. Match the material: stainless & hard alloys benefit from premium drill bits (e.g., Norseman/Viking M42 or cobalt) and cutting fluids.
  3. Select the length: compact bits for tight access; extended nutsetters and jobber/mechanic-length drills for reach.
  4. Pick the finish/coating: black oxide for general use; TiN/TiCN/TiAlN and cobalt/M42 for heat and wear resistance.
  5. Verify thread work: use the correct tap (taper/plug/bottoming) and complementary die; confirm with a thread gauge before assembly.

Quick Driver & Bit Sizing Notes

  • Torx: T10–T55 cover most machine & structural applications.
  • Hex (Allen): common SAE: 1/16"–3/8"; common metric: 1.5–10 mm.
  • Square (Robertson): #1–#3 cover light to structural wood screws.
  • Nutsetters: SAE 1/4", 5/16", 3/8"; metric 8–13 mm are most used.

Drilling, Tapping & Cutting Tips

  • Use center-punch/spot drill for accuracy; step up in small increments on stainless.
  • Keep RPM appropriate for material; apply cutting oil to extend bit and tap life.
  • For blind holes, finish with a bottoming tap; for through holes, plug taps are efficient.

Safety & Storage

  • Wear eye protection, hearing protection, and gloves appropriate to the task.
  • Store sharp tools in sleeves or a tool bag; keep bits organized by size/drive.
