Hammer Bits for Concrete Masonry Screws
Straight Shank Concrete Hammer Drill Bits also known as hammer bits, are made with carbide tips for quick drilling through brick, block, concrete, and other masonry materials. They must be used in a hammer drill, set in the hammer and rotation mode. Straight shank hammer bits work best with rotary hammer drills. A hammer drill combines the rotary action of a standard drill with a hammering action along the bit’s axis to help quickly drill through brittle materials. The 5/32" and 3/16" hammer drill bits work to create a pilot hole for the addition of applicable fasteners such as concrete anchors or tapping screws. The spiralized "flute" design of the hammer drill bits helps to dissipate the heat generated during use and prevent any damage to the material itself. Additionally, the flattened shank of the 5/32" and 3/16" hammer drill bits prevents slippage and improves the accuracy and precision required for secure anchoring.
These hammer bits are commonly used for drilling holes for masonry screws, which is why these straight shank bits are sometimes referred to as tapcon bits or tapcon hammer bits.
These bits feature straight shanks which are designed for use in a Jacobs style chuck, one that requires a chuck key. The 5/32" hammer drill bits and 3/16" hammer drill bits offered are 5 1/2" in length and are available in single units as well as quantities of 2, 5, and 10 units.
