
Brass Castle Nuts
Slotted Nuts also called Castellated Nuts in Brass
- Used with a cotter pin
- Notched on one side
- Torque the nut then align with the closest hole
- Used with a bolt or axle that has a hole in it
- Used in low torque applications
A Castle nut, castellated nut, or slotted nut is normally used with a Cotter Pin to create a locking fastener assembly that cannot be loosened due to accidental vibration. It is common to see this type of nut on vehicles and machinery where vibration is frequent.
