Lock Nut with a Nylon Insert in Corrosion Resistant 304 Stainless Steel

Hexagonal shape Nylon Lock Nut
Nylon material creates pressure against the fastener
Forces the bottom threads of the fastener against the top threads of the bolt
Creates a better hold
Locks the nut into place so it will not vibrate loose
Retain locking ability up to 250 °F (121 °C)
Also referred to as Nylon Lock Nuts, Nyloc Nuts, Polymer-Insert Lock Nuts, or Elastic Stop Nuts

To prevent or stop galling (also known as seizing or locking-up) on stainless steel fasteners, we recommend using an anti-seize thread lubricant from our line of
MRO Solutions

Stainless Steel fasteners rubbing against each other (during installation) may cause a reaction known as Galling. The chance of galling increases significantly when a nylon insert is added to the nut. To limit the extra friction created by the nylon insert, Waxed Nylon Insert Lock Nuts are also available.

*Even when using Waxed Nylon Insert Lock Nuts, we still recommend using an MRO Anti-Seize Solution to further deter thread galling during any stainless steel fastener installation.
