Stainless Steel Sheet Metal Screws

Stainless steel sheet metal screws are screws with sharp threads designed to cut into sheet metals and other soft materials. They are sometimes referred to as stainless steel self cutting or self threading screws. Some have a type 17 Point, which is a notched tip to aid in chip removal during the thread cutting process. Sheet metal screws are excellent for holding metal to wood due to their strong retention in wood. This does, however, make it very difficult to remove them. If your project is not permanent it is recommended stainless steel wood screws are used instead.
