E-Z Hex Threaded Inserts

E-Z Hex Drive Threaded Inserts, sometimes called threaded insert nuts, are fasteners that can be inserted into wood, particle, grain and other soft materials to create a metal internal threading for a fastener. When a fastener is installed into wood, the threads dig into the wood creating a strong hold. If the screw needs to be removed and re-installed (especially multiple times) the teeth will chew up the wood resulting in a poor-quality hold. To prevent or fix this, a threaded insert can be installed into the hole. Hex Drive Threaded Inserts are threaded inserts for wood that are driven by the E-Z Lock Drive Tool.

E-Z Threaded Inserts have long teeth that dig deep into wood while being installed. This creates a very firm strong hold. Once installed, the insert has metal internal threading that can be continuously installed or removed from the insert without compromising the integrity. Threaded inserts are primarily used in two situations. Either the screw has stripped the hole which means the insert will be installed to fix the hole or the user knows the screw will need to be installed and removed often and pre-emptively installs an E-z Hex Drive Threaded Insert to prevent thread damage.

Flange Hex Drive Threaded Inserts

Flange Hex Drive Threaded Inserts are installed up to the lip near the head of the insert. This lip, or flange, provides an almost washer like surface for a bolt to fasten against. Generically referred to as a Type D insert nut, flanged threaded inserts can also be seen for use in decorative pieces.

Flush Hex Drive Threaded Inserts

Flush Hex Drive Threaded Inserts are installed the same way as any other threaded insert. They do not have a lip near the head, so they can be installed completely flush with the surface or even a little countersunk. Flush drive threaded inserts are generically referred to as Type E insert nuts.
