Lineman's pliers, also called linesman, side-cutting or Kliens pliers, are traditionally used by linemen (those who construct and maintain powerlines) and other tradesmen for manipulating wires. Whether cutting, bending, gripping or twisting wire and cable, this type of pliers allows the user to manipulate the wire with much less force than by hand. Lineman's pliers also usually have some type of grips on them which not only make the grip softer but can also help to deter electrical shock when working with wiring. If insulation is needed in the handles, make sure that a voltage is specified.
