Hanger Bolts and Dowel Screws are headless bolts used primarily with wood applications to add an external thread, or create an hidden fastening joint. Hanger bolts feature one side with a self tapping lag screw thread to grip into the wood, with the other end having machine screw threads to accept a nut. This makes them wildly popular in removable applications including storm shutters. Dowel screws, also known as wood screw threaded studs, feature two self tapping threads for a hidden wood to wood connection. Common applications of Dowel Screws include: furniture making, flooring, framing and end joints.
