The UniBurr Plus 1816 is a simple yet intelligently designed chamfer tool for
repairing damaged fastener threads to prepare bolts and threaded rod to
thread nuts. The compact size and design of the UniBurr simplifies the
fastener repair process. The tool operates like a drill bit, with a
compact design to be easily carried in a pocket or tool pouch. The tool repairs bolts by shaving down damaged threads to expose the clean undamaged threads. The
UniBurr Plus chamfer tool is designed
for use on sizes (diameters) #8 (.164") through 3/4" (0.75"). The UniBurr also works on Metric screws, sizes M4 - M19.
Disclaimer: Upon our testing of this product on harder metals such as Grade 8 and Stainless Steel, we must stress the importance of drill speed when using. The slower the better! Bring your drill speed down to a crawl when using.
The UniBurr Plus is designed for use with a Hand Drill, making the tool similar to a deburring drill bit.
SIMPLER. FASTER. SAFER. Save an immeasurable amount of time and money by not replacing expensive and hard to find fasteners, especially when dealing with fixed bolts. Safety conscious design leaves no cuts, sparks or burrs, meaning that you work faster and more affordably without injury. Simple design and compact size makes it easy to carry around anywhere and use at a moment's notice.
The UniBurr Plus is manufactured out of Tool Grade Steel with a 92 Rockwell Coating. This durable design makes the tool suitable for use on hard metals including stainless steel, hardened steel, mild steel, copper and brass, as well as wood, fiberglass and plastic. Besides durability, the design is also safety conscious to prevent sparks, burns or cut hands. Additionally, the tool does not over heat the work piece when used properly. Benefits also include the tools deburring method; Threads are sheared off, not folded over as would happen with a grinder.
This shearing method is the key aspect of the tool, but also creates an important practice: THE SLOWER THE BETTER. The tool is effective at speeds up to 600 RPMs. It is recommended that the tool be used in a hand drill at its slowest setting, with decent pressure applied to the tool. It is important to remove only the threads needed to allow an easy start for the nut. This will preserve the life of the UniBurr tool and keep the shearing edges working efficiently. There is no need to give a bolt thread a pencil-sharp tip!
ATTENTION: Ineffective on Chrome Moly (chromium and molybdenum). Some vehicle lug bolts are made with Chrome Moly, so please verify that the lug bolt is not Chrome Moly before using the Uniburr.

- The UniBurr Plus Must Work on a Slow Speed (0-600 RPM) - The UniBurr Plus Shears better the slower you go, increased speed will shorten the life of the tool. NEVER use it faster than 600 RPM. The slower the better! Bring your drill speed down to a CRAWL.
- Harder Metal Requires Harder Pressure - Lugs or Grade 8 bolts will require a great deal of pressure to shear effectively. The UniBurr Plus Chamfer Tool is for use on Grade 2 (M4.8), Grade 5 (M8.8), Grade 8 (M10.9), and 300 Series Stainless Steel. It can also be used on Copper, Brass, Wood, Fiberglass and Plastic, but the harder the material and larger diameter, require the greatest pressure and slowest speed.
- Uniburr must NEVER BE REVERSED - Running the tool counter-clockwise under pressure will destroy the tool.
