Fasten Wood to Other Materials
T nuts are used for anchoring wood to other surfaces. They have flanges on the thin surface of the nut. The flanges of a tee nut act as hooks to hold the nut to a soft surface such as wood or particle board. They can sometimes be serrated to provide a better grip. A t-nut can be used to create a flush surface on the nut side if the bolt is the right length. As a bolt is threaded into the t nut, the hooks sink into the soft surface providing a strong hold. The tee nut gets its name from the flanges extending out from the bolt creating a shape similar a T. These nuts can also be refered to as blind nuts due to the fact that they are driven entirely by the bolt.
