Square Head Bolts
Square Head Bolts are similar to Hex Cap screws but have a 4-sided square head instead of a 6-sided hexagonal head. The square head enables an easier wrench grip for tightening and a larger bearing area for gripping. They are commonly referred to as both bolts and screws and are designed to be driven with a wrench. Square Head Bolts are partially threaded with a shoulder beneath the head.
Hot Dipped Galvanized Steel Square Head Bolts
Hot dip galvanizing is a process that adds a layer of corrosion resistance to square head bolts by dipping fabricated steel into a kettle containing molten zinc. The HDG process creates a tightly bonded alloy for superior corrosion resistance and harsh environment applications. Due to the extra layer hot dip galvanizing adds to square head bolts, they need to be used exclusively with nuts and washers of the same material as there is extra intended spacing for the new layer.
