Extra Tall Acorn Nuts (also called Extra Tall Acorn Nuts or Extra Tall Cap Nuts) are precisely what they sound like. They are standard cap nuts with a significantly increased height. This added height allows for a greater internal thread depth, which means that more of a bolt or machine screw can be inserted into the nut. Many Applications use this feature for both practical and finish reasons to keep the bolt or screw thread within the cap nut.
All Extra Tall Acorn Nuts in this selection have a Flat Top, are made of 18-8 Stainless Steel, and are USA made.
18-8 or 304 grades of Stainless steel are suitable for many general purpose applications, especially freshwater and non-salt water wet environments. Corrosion-resistant and durable, 18-8 stainless steel is equivalent to the A2 grade of stainless steel.

Acorn Cap Nuts are used to cover the exposed threading of threaded rods or studs and bolt ends. This is done for safety reasons and to provide a clean, finished look to the application.
Removing a cap nut is simple. They're threaded the same way as traditional hex nuts, so they can be removed with traditional pliers, wrenches, or ratchets that fit snugly around the nut.
Same as other hexagonal nuts: with a wrench, pliers, or a ratchet. Cap nuts are just hex nuts with a dome over one side of the internally threaded hole, enclosing it.
Stainless steel is good for general purpose applications, especially those involving water or freshwater. Suppose you need stainless steel for more corrosive environments, such as marine or salt-water applications. In that case, we recommend the 316 grade of stainless steel.
Depends on the material. Some materials, such as zinc plated steel, are safe to mix with stainless steel. However, aluminum is not safe to use because it risks galvanic corrosion of the materials. We recommend keeping like-metals together in applications.
