Tapcon Concrete Screw Anchors
Hex Washer Head and Phillips Flat Head Masonry Screws
Tapcon Masonry screws are used tor light duty fastening into all masonry materials including brick, block and concrete. They are distinguished by their blue color, which is part of the Blue Climaseal™ coating which extends the corrosion and rust resistance of the screw, making them suitable for exterior and long lasting applications. Also known as "Tapcons", these blue screws are easily recognizable concrete screws that are used for long lasting applications.
Tapcon Screws work by tapping threads into a preexisting hole. The threads of the screw cut into the material surrounding the hole, ensuring a strong and snug fit. The diameter of the pilot hole is determined by the diameter of the screw. It is important that the hole be slightly smaller than the diameter of the screw so that the threads can tap properly. For 3/16" diameter Tapcon Screws, a 5/32" drill bit is used for the hole and for 1/4" Tapcons a 3/16" masonry drill bit is used. Tapcon Concrete Screws are removable, however it is not recommended to reuse the same hole because the cutting threads can compromise or destroy the holding power.
The "original masonry" anchor that cuts its own threads into concrete, brick, or block. Maximum performance is achieved because the Tapcon Anchor, the Condrive ® Installation Tool, and the carbide-tipped Tapcon Drill Bits are designed to work as a system. It is essential to use the Condrive ® tool and the correct drill bit to assure consistent anchor performance. To watch how to use tapcon screws, please watch our video below.
